I've been composing music for over 10 years and have recently begun composing for films. I'm interested in all genres. Please check out my webpage for several samples in a wide variety of styles.

Hey man, not to rag on ya or anything, but all of the samples I listened to on your site sound like something coming out of my SNES. I can see it having its place in certain parts of a movie but I can't honestly think of a time that a .midi file would fit in any of my ideas. I see you got talent and really hope it's just lack of software or equipment, but honestly the samples I heard belong on a website for some fourteen year old girl's kitten.

Freezepop, now they got mad synth skills.

Thanks for the comments.
Which pieces did you listen to? There's some older ones that I need to redo that don't have my latest samples. My latest samples are state of the art. They're from the Vienna Symphonic Library Pro Edition, which is a professional library that was used to score the film Underworld, for example. 240GB of sampled orchestral instruments. You can check them out here:
www.vsl.co.at.
Preparing for Battle and The Matador uses those samples, and so does the Blue Hole clips, except for the piano, which is from my Yamaha digital piano. What tracks were you talking about?

I'm all for criticism, but the kitten line was kinda harsh. Personally i thought your stuff sounded very good. The non-midi "vienna" tracks in particular. Only criticism is that the high pitched horn you use in Matador (which was my favorite) and particularly nightmare (36 seconds in) is kind of out of place, IMO. Other than that it all sounded very professional. On a side note where in Gods name did you get those audio packs?

Thanks particleman! I don't know what you mean by "audio packs". Also it's all MIDI. I sequenced everything on my page. The samples are instrument samples but there are no sampled phrases in there.

The high-pitched horn you talk about might be the trumpet. The Vienna library trumpet is a C trumpet rather than Bb, and generally doesn't sound as good as a normal Bb. I need to get a better trumpet soon.

i meant the vienna library. Did you purchase the software, "borrow it", attend a school/program that has it?

Sorry if i sound stupider than normal, i have no knowledge of music.

I purchased the library and software. Over $5000. Definitely not your Casio 1000. Orchestral simulation is very expensive.

You should change your music page so the newest tunes are towards the top that way people can hear what you do "now" as opposed to "then". A lot of people will listen to the first few songs on your page and be disgusted by the old school quality and go onto the next composer's website. You have some great tunes but you should really put the better quality ones towards the top.

Peace,
Zack

I've been meaning to redo some of the older ones with newer samples. The first two actually using my latest samples except for the piano, which is just a digital piano.

Which ones did you think sounded the best?
