Not that anyone here knows or cares enough, but I've decided to start the official MGS 4 thread, anticipating this amazing game since Metal gear is truly the best video game saga ever created.

Revolver Ocelot is the coolest.

I grew out of gaming long ago, but Metal Gear Solid 3 brought me back. What a game! That's all I can say. It had everything: the plot, the characters, the atmosphere, and it was fun!

I'll get a PS3 just for MGS4 (and then sell it once I beat the game).

Yeah, the MG series is awesome... can't wait for this one.

So what do we know about MGS4 so far? Kojima said it would have online play but other then that, this thread is probably a year too early dont you think?

that e3 trailer with raiden has me worried, god i hate that guy.

Well raiden is definatley in MGS4, he's in the poster along with meryl revolver ocelot big boss and others. I just hope he won't be playable...

I agree with SamSF I hope he (raiden) isn't playable.
I hope meryl isn't in it you know if like she is not a zombie or some mufed up crap like that, I don't know if any one is with me but MGS2 SUCKED ALOT it was so stupid it wasn't funny the only part I liked was the beginning with Snake.
MGS1&2 was awasome I really liked MGSTwin Snakes and MGSacid Acid was OK. 3was my Fav 4 well be better hopefully.

Looking forward to it. The E3 trailer was very funny, I liked it. MGS3 is close to the sheer brilliance that was MGS1, and at times surpasses it in cinematic quality... Kojima is truly a "director," a title few other video game artists can give themselves (probably the only other one would be Hironobu Sakaguchi). FWIW, AC!D is also great.

she never was, official ending was the one where she survived.

Otacon died holding the hangar door open in that ending. If that's the 'official' ending, how did he return in MGS2? The bottom line is that if Meryl is back in MGS4, Kojima is not staying true to the established continuity (which is not that big a deal).

WOW. I just saw this on the front page and thought "Hey who started an MGS4 thred." I COMPLETELY forgot I made this or I would have put links to the amazing trailer that just came out. Didn't even know anyone was interested.

That isn't true. The OFFICIAL ending is the one where Meryl lives, and in that one Otacon doesn't die holding the door. Remember, the airstrike was called off? The whole thing was he WOULD have died staying there if the airstrike wasn't called off, that's why it was such a big deal. You even hear Snake at the end say "I want you to do me a favor. There's a man somewhere on the base, Hal Emmerich. Get him out of there." So basically that's how it happened. However, in MGS2 they hint that Snake and Meryl kind of had a falling out sometime after MGS, so they might not beon the best terms this time around. MGS was still my favorite from the series because the acting, script, and presentation were the best out of all of them. MGS3 comes damn close though.
