| Oy...here we go again. I love my Mac. But to each their own. Avid currently runs faster and has more features on the PC (the Mac features are always a couple of months behind). When I use Avid on a PC it is on a box that it's only purpose is to run Avid. It is NOT connected to the internet. Once you connect a PC to the internet - all hell breaks loose. I'm loving my virus/spyware free Powerbook though. For editing, with PCs you get Avid, Premiere, and Vegas. With Macs you get Avid and FCP. The bloated nature of Windows and the virus proned nature of it is the main reason why I use a Mac. -Chris Studentfilms.com | | | | Posts: 2508 | Location: Los Angeles, CA U.S.A | Registered: October 30, 2002 |

That's the sad truth. And the only thing to stop it is hefty antivirus/internet blocking software, but who wants to eat up their precious processing power with those running in the background when you have effects to render? I use FCP at school, Avid at work, and Premiere at home. And as much as I like(d) Premiere, FCP is extremely similar to it and runs so much faster. I'd make out with FCP if it was a well-proportioned woman. Macs are just video workhorses, you can't go wrong with them.

It's actually extremely easy. Accidentally click yes to a script permission dialog, and you've got a boatload of trouble on your hands. Believe me, I consider myself very technically-oriented and stuff as even gotten by me.

| i don't accidentally click anything, i keep a perceptive eye on everything i do, which is why i don't get viruses. if a stupid little message pops up to try and trick me, i read it. if it's bull****, i x out or if its a script permission, i click 'no'. you can't just blindly click ****, or click ok for everything.
i also don't use programs loaded with spyware, and i don't pirate software. you'd be amazed how many of my dumb ass friends pirated vegas or premiere, and they end up with a virus from the crack.
yeah, it isn't something you worry about on the mac platform, but there's other disadvantages to using that. | | | | Posts: 805 | Location: Jersey | Registered: September 07, 2004 |
