I just want to give a heads up to those looking to get your movie professionally pressed on dvd for the cheapest price possible. Having finished our first short feature film “Slimed,” we were shopping around for the best price on a small promotional DVD run and we wanted REPLICATION (professional silver disc pressing, NOT dvd-R which is DUPLICATION pressing). Most houses start Replication at a 1000 disc run which is very costly, simply because your paying for the quantity, but Nation Wide will do replication as low as 300 copies. They seem to offer pretty much the lowest price on all services including both local and online, though to be fair we are NOT in L.A., we’re based in Austin, Texas.
I was skeptical of the low pricing, but their customer service proved to be both fast and courteous, both through phone and email. Our first job was upgraded with expedited shipping, and full color disc printing for free. I was worried about the accuracy of their color printing as we had a hand painted image for our DVD artwork. Hardcopy proofing with them is very expensive, so we went with digital proofing which was free, but which again, we were worried, as it’s not the best way to get an accurate preview. We have to say our worries were laid to rest when we saw the results though. BLOWN away in fact. The CYMK printing was top notch, and the colors and detail were exceptionally accurate to our monitors.( To be fair we were using color calibrated monitors on our end to preview our artwork).
DISC Job Description: Ink: full color disc printing
All nationwide required was 2 copies of a DVD master encode, and digital files for the artwork. The job order went out on 11/18/2009, and we had the DVDs in our hands on December 12/04/2009, beating their own estimation by almost half a month.
The DVDs arrived intact, well packed, and fully assembled. All of this cost under 1000 dollars including shipping. I have no affiliation with Nation Wide, but our experience with them was nothing but positive, so I feel obligated to share. I definitely recommend calling them on the phone however if your going to place an order. They will answer any questions and concerns you might have on the spot, including the accuracy of their quotes and timeframe estimations.
If you’re even MORE interested to see the quality of the pressing, feel free to purchase the film at our website for $10 dollars.
