So I am now certified to work with Avid and got a nice job with a smaller business and this guy wants me to edit a few wedding videos. The original footage is DV tapes around 3 hours in length and he wants the final product to be 1 hour long.
I was also somewhat shocked when he asked me to create the artwork for the DVD case and such...something I've never done before but I do know photoshop well.
If anyone has any tips and tricks for editing wedding videos please share them with me. This is my first time editing a wedding video and my boss does know this however I am a little unsure on how to go about laying out the basics.
if you were given prior footage then make it the concept of a story.
otherwise you can treat it almost like a documentary. From what i've seen in some wedding videos, i would suggest something along the lines of a documentary and a chick flick combined. You have the pre ceremony footage, then the guest shots, ceremony (that would probably take up alot of time) then the ending. then you can pop in a few funny shots and all that. apart from all that it should be pretty straightforward. just my 2c.
