Hey everyone, I stumbled across this site and seemed like a cool place. Anyway, I had a few questions that I hope you guys could answer.

1. I am planning on filming a scene where a character opens a book, and one page will seem to glow or even show an image like a TV. Has anyone had experience with Chroma-key in FCP and any ideas on how to make this work?

2. In an earlier project I applied slow motion to a clip of a running character using Imovie. When recorded over to a miniDV and DVD, it was fine but when I dubbed it over to a VHS it appeared very choppy and came out noticeably bad. Does anyone know of any ways to have slow motion appear well when dubbing to a VHS? Thanks

I don't really have any experience with chroma-keying in FCP, but if you do decide to go that way, always make sure you light the blue/green screen you're using properly, I cannot stress how important that is.

The reason iMovie slow motion looks so bad is because it doesn't apply motion blur to its slow motion, where FCP does. To make slow motion look better on digital video, make sure you crank up your shutter speed in the camcorder (for those scenes you want in slow motion).

also, if your camera has a function that imitates 24fps (i know my gl2 has it, and many other similar camcorders have it too), turn that off. when you slow it down in FCP, it will look choppy. just a little sidenote.
