So after my computer was fried from that power surge the other day I upgraded to dual monitor!Yay! It makes everything so much easier... It also looks wicked cool.
I told my dad my CRT monitor and video card fried so he would buy me a new LCD and a dual monitor-capable nVidia. Of course, after that happened I sort of "fixed" the monitor...I'm so happy with two monitors. Productivity is awesome now. I can edit movies and chat online at the same time now...
Dragging windows from one to another always causes an astonished gasp from whoever else in the room. Quite rewarding. FCP works brilliantly in the dual monitor window preset, too.

I don't even have a monitor. I just turn on voice prompt to read me everything on a page, do a lot of guesswork with the mouse, and exact painstaking care while I'm typing. As for the video editing I do, just call it luck.

i've got three monitors setup now. one is a CRT, one is a 27 inch LCD, and the other is a 12 inch TV. it's quite a setup. so much more productivity with the tri-monitor setup.

I saw a studio production monitor for about $120 somewhere. Might want to search around for that.
BTW I do have a question about that: If I were to add a production monitor to my setup, could I use the S-Video Out on my GL2 to go to the production monitor? Because Premiere outputs the video stream to the camera when it's plugged in...
Nah man. I actually won it in a raffle. Before that, it was just a 12 inch TV, a 19 inch TV, and a monitor. i love the 27 inch LCD though.
i've got one onboard video card that goes into my default monitor, an ATI card that goes to my 27 inch LCD, hooked up via VGA, and another no name video card going through a TVator hooked up to the small TV. Yeah, I've got three video cards. I'm totally compensating. I love it though, the more monitors, the bigger your penis is.

This is the system I'm using with my GL2 at the moment. (I'm using premiere as well) I'm actually using my new video card to power my 17" CRT for the video composition window (Faster refresh rates on a CRT) and my 17" LCD for my timeline etc. I'm using my GL2 hooked up through firewire from Premiere to output from GL2 to my 20" TV for color correction via component jack. (The reason I'm using component instead of s-video is because component is of lesser quality than s-video. I figure if the footage is being previewed in the worst possible state, the video can only look better with a different connection)I would recommend against using your camera as your editing deck though (Put's extra ware and tear on the camera for nothing) I would suggest in investing in a deck like this instead of the camera type setup. (So far I think JVC are the only ones that make this in a decent price range) http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=produ...Q=&sku=248591&is=REG
Also, If you want to preview your footage for color correction and whatnot on a TV, Download "Echo fire" It let's you preview After Effects projects and Photoshop projects in real-time just like Premiere does.
You dont want to use the other monitor to preview your video. You need a real tv monitor to see what it really looks like. Monitors and Televisions look drastically different in color reproduction and range.

there are some video cards that have dual monitors and video out either RCA or S-Video. that way you can avoid having the camera as a relay all the time.
