Welcome to Studentfilms.com, the online film discussion forum for filmmakers and students who are applying to film school, attending film school, need advice on making films, or just want to share their films with the world.
The final voting stage of the Branchage 48-hour Film Challenge closes soon and you have until midnight Friday to visit the MiShorts site to cast your vote and help decide who wins the Best Film prize of £1,000.
Five teams of hotly-tipped filmmakers, headed by the Blaine Brothers, were set the task of creating a ‘road-movie’ in just two days at last year’s Branchage festival - with genre and title drawn from a hat. You can watch these excellent films in a special voting area on the MiShorts site before casting your vote. Then you can find our more about the filmmakers by checking their profiles in our Filmmaker Directory.
The race to the finishing line has been very exciting, with a major tussle for second place, and we expect things to get pretty tense as the deadline approaches. As our special Culture Counter gives you a real-time display of each film’s progress, it's like being at a major horse race as you watch these thoroughbred shorts fight for first place. The final straight is in site and then it’s a romp to the finishing line, etc (that’s enough dodgy horse-racing analogies – ed).
And if that’s not enough excitement for you, there is also an official screening/awards party on January 11th at the Roxy Bar and Screen from 7pm.
