I'm not the best student but I'm not the worst. I currently have a 2.8 GPA in my second year of college that can easily be turned into a 3.0 or a 3.3 by the time I graduate. Either way, I'm not very competitive in the academic department but I have little doubts in my talents as a writer.

So, looking into screenwriting programs (preferably MFA programs but I'm still researching), what are some schools I could look into in the LA and NY area that is not so competitive as USC and Chapman and such?

Hi, I was accepted at Columbia last year. I had 2.3 GPA. Apply to where you want to get into, have a strong application and you'll do just fine.

Best of luck!

Got into AFI, UCLA, and USC with a 3.27 at a school anyone can get into and nobody's ever heard of.

Worry about the rest of your app, not your grades, but as you have more time in school, why not try to be more competitive academically? It will only help you in a cutthroat world like the entertainment industry.

And I'll be the other way to look at it. I graduated with an outstanding GPA, and I've been struggling to get accepted for the last three years. So let it be known:

Grades mean nothing.

i believe alot of it is about your application and what you show the admissions with your reel. Alot of decision weight goes most probably to your work rather than how well you did at school.
