New to the forum...

Does anyone know anything (good/bad/indifferent) about Pepperdine's Writing for Screen and Television M.F.A.?

Thanks!

hmm... wish I had some info for you. I applied to Pepperdine for undergrad but that was when I was still in science. All I know is, their campus is beautiful. Hopefully someone else around here can give you more info about the screenwriting program!

Thanks, Tabby. I think their screenwriting program is pretty new, so I might be out of luck...

Well I know a little bit. I used to work there. Yeah, it's easily the most beautiful campus ever. Incredible vistas of the Santa Monica Bay, etc. Living in Malibu with all the stars is kind of weird sometimes, and there's not much to do in Malibu.

As far as the program goes, yes, they just started. But they're a very connected (and rich) school, and part of why they started the program was because of the success of their undergrad program.

They don't have an undergrad in film specifically, it's more TV production oriented, but they've had continual "guest professors" from the industry come and teach screenwriting, directing, producing, etc.

When I was working there Tom Shadyac (Bruce Almighty, Ace Ventura, Patch Adams director) was teaching a course. It helps that these industry types don't have to drive very far from their Malibu ranch mansions to teach.

So they connected the dots and decided to get their own program going. I considered applying myself, but I had just quit my job there and felt a little strange about going back as a student so soon.

Hopefully that's a little of what you were looking for.

bump.

Is there anyone in the Pepperdine program on the board? If so, can you talk a little bit about the program? I cannot seem to find any information about the program aside from what is listed on the school's site.
