Different major, or same?

Does being in a similar major in undergrad (ie. film studies, media productions, journalism etc) help your application for grad film school? Or having a different major make the whole grad school process more rewarding?

I'm a psychology major, and I love what I'm studying right now. But my school offers a digital/ TV production major under the journalism department, and obviously, they have the resources for me to film things for my portfolio.... would it help, or am I fine being in the major I'm already in?

From what I've read, it seems that graduate schools tend to prefer diverse backgrounds when selecting applicants. I think your psych major is a great way to gain a different story telling perspective, especially if you're still able to work on your own film projects.
