I didn't see a thread on this, so apologies if I just missed it.
Is anyone else applying to UT? I'm applying for their MFA in Screenwriting and I've found their online application system a little frustrating. Apparently you have to submit the application online before they will send an e-mail to the people writing your letters of recommendation and it can apparently take like 3 business days between submitting the application and their sending the e-mails.
It seems a little silly to me. So their deadline is December 11. That tells me that I should be fine applying on December 10 but clearly I wouldn't be because my letters wouldn't get in in time. I much preferred USC's system where notifications were sent to recommenders as soon as you listed them and they could be submitting their letters at the same time as you were working on your application.
Maybe the application is due by December 11 but the letters aren't due until later? I would almost think it would have to be like this because there's also no mention on their website about the delay between submission and notification going to the recommenders.....
Alright, just blowing off a little steam about the whole thing. Best of luck to everyone else applying.

I think that's exactly it. They expect your materials by December 11th, but not the recs. But obviously, they expect that you've notified your professors and that they will send in their materials thereafter. Sort of like AFI, where the app was due Dec. 1 but the recs are due Feb. 1 when they realistically start reviewing the applications.

I know it's too late for this year, but maybe this will help someone next year:
You do have to submit the online application before the requests are sent to the recommenders. BUT, you aren't required to send e-versions of your application materials. I realized this too late in the game. But what it means is, you can send in the online application with just your name, past schools, and all your statistical information in, and then later mail in hard copies of your statement of purpose, and writing sample, and all that. Makes the deadline a little easier.
