I'm currently a Junior in the Cinema Production program here at USC's School of Cinematic Arts, and I'm launching into pre-production on a Sci-Fi short film that I intend to treat as my senior project. The story concerns a military scout's return to an Earth long-deserted by humanity, and his run-ins with Earth's new inhabitants.
The overall film length will only total between 5 and 7 minutes, but will be filled with high-quality effects work. This will be a joint production between students from both USC and NYU, and will shoot in the Seattle area this upcoming August. We'll be deploying our experienced and motivated production crew to shoot the film on a RED.
But before any of that can happen, I need to explore and establish the design of multiple character, costume, and vehicle elements. And while I can make movies, I can't draw. That's where I'd love to get your help. If you're interested in helping, or just want to learn more about the project, send me a message and I'll gladly shoot you a copy of the script. Additionally, I can show you examples of my previous work -- so you know I'm not a) lying, or b) a bad filmmaker.
This project provides a great opportunity to meet interesting, talented artists on the filmmaking side, both experienced and up-and-coming. What particularly excites me about the project is the prospect of exploring dynamic design concepts for the film's sci-fi elements, along with establishing rewarding working relationships with artists -- relationships that will hopefully persist into my professional career.
So, the basics:
What is the project? A Science Fiction short film involving highly advanced technology, including flying crafts, weapons, suits, and robots.
What's needed? Character artists, vehicle artists, and any other artists in general.
