As a director it is your job not only to know how to set up a shot, but how to properly handle your actors to get the performances you need to make that award winning film. Raindance is offering a two-day course that will give you the techniques you need to promote strong performances and help your actors to connect with the material on a much deeper level. Participants will learn how to prepare with actors, use rehearsal and direct actors during the shoot.

The first day is devoted to preparation, from casting and auditioning to developing characters. You will also learn more about the differences between stage and screen acting as well as how to direct non-actors. The second day moves in to fine tuning where you will learn how to keep performances fresh, how the camera affects performance, as well as how to handle different types of scenes from intimate to comical (and much more!). Examples and demonstrations will be utilized for further insight, and professional actors will be used in a real film shoot to take participants through the actual process of filming a scene.
