Is it possible to ”˜'beef up the canon GL2? Examples::better heads and tougher body? Are there ”˜'kit-bashing'' methods to construct.., has anyone done so?

Well, my GL-2 hit the ground bare on a flimsy tripod and it still performs well. I would suggest that you sorround that baby in foam and cardboard and make up a box to fit it. I take it this shot requires some extreme view point.

I have a GL2 but no longer support canon! Panasonic all the way! I've just gotten the dreaded rewind/eject tape error! Luckily I have a 5 year warranty! But what happens when my warranty is up? (I'll have to pay everytime this happens!)

In case you guys don't know... There is a manufacturer defect in all GL2's where one of the components in the GL2 wares down waaaaayyyyyyy too often! Canon knows of this defect and has not bothered to do a recall on the product. I know this because I googled the problem I was having. The search returned at least 300 pages with at least 50 posts of this problem in each page! The only solution is to keep on replacing this piece, and worst of all... there's now way to put an estimated time of when this piece will break again on the camera. This cannot be serviced in a local shop or authorized canon dealer, it needs to be sent to canon directly, where they replace the 50cent part, charge you 100$ plus labour costs if your out of your warranty and then charge you for shipping!

I work in sales that involves me selling canon products. I will never endorse there products again or push them when selling! (Too bad for you canon! You should have issued a recall because there are a lot of angry people out there)

Guys, be weary!
