Can't say I really favor one over the other, but I do notice that schools tend to use Final Cut Pro more than Premiere. In fact, I don't think I've heard of any undergrad school (Chapman, Art Center, etc) using Premiere.
actually, schools like USC and chapman use Avid. which is the big industry standard still.
The poll should be between Final Cut and Avid in my opinion since premiere did kinda fall out of grace several years ago.
I have experience in all 3 and I think they have their own good and bad points which will take pages to explain and rant about, but it's up to you as to how you prefer your editing flow.
No matter which one you choose, it all comes down to creative talent...
