I've seen a little bit of "24". OK show, I guess. Nothing that will endure a few decades down the line. I'll put it this way - the first season box set was recently on sale for $19. I love box sets, but I wouldn't buy that one for that price. Maybe if it were $10.

I saw Dekalog 6 last night, and I had to keep reminding myself that it was shot as a miniseries for Polish TV... such artistry would have absolutely no place on US television.

No,no,no... you can't have seen enough of it. I doubt anyone could watch a few episodes and not be hooked. I know people who refuse to watch it cause it addicts them and then stresses them out too much. Maybe it's just not your style, sure, but I doubt you've given it enough of a chance if you say it's merely ok.

Sorry, we've basically destroyed this topic, haven't we? Evan and I are always getting into these random discussions of digital vs. film and other off-topic stuff.

TD, I said Arli$$ not Alias. Alias is lame. South Park and the Simpsons are classic shows too definitely. 24 so did ripoff Nick of Time in the whole real time keepin you on the edge of your seat deal. For real. Watch nick of time, Depp and Walken are awesome.

Oh! My bad, what the heck is Arliss? And no, Nick of Time is nothing like 24. I didn't like it much, and they didn't use the real-time thing at all. It was just a clever gimmick to write on the back of the box. Sure Depp and Walken wre good, but the movie wasn't. I don't know whether or not Cassar was inspired by that for 24, but he did it soooo much better.

Jay Leno is pretty funny, but I especially like Jaywalking and Headlines on his show. I don't think Letterman is very funny, and his Top 10's aren't that good. So I choose Leno.

Being Australian I don't get to see a lot of the hosts you are mentioning (such as Conan O'Brien) but Leno and Letterman are the main two I see. I oftenm stay up late and watch Letterman because I think he's hilarious. He's much funnier than Rove (Australia's favourite television host) and I would love to see him on at a better hour over here.

Anyway, I think television SUCKS these days! I love rotting my brain in front of the screen (be it film or TV) but it's getting less and less enjoyable. Used to be I couldn't decide what shows to watch coz they were so many good, now there's next ot nothing.
My favourite of what's left are probably: South Park, Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy, Arrested Development (funniest show I've seen since Seinfeld, but it's on after midnight over here)and that's just about it.
TV sucks, and so my DVD collection grows and grows.

Conan is my favorite and by far the funniest person. Even when he interviews people i havent heard of I will still watch becasue its funny.

Letterman, i dont really watch him at that much or ever, but i do admit hes the most classic host. He may not be that funny but if you like him you never will stop.

Leno, He is in between almost. Though he does have the funniest monolouge out of all of them. Its like in one family guy episode where stewie says something about how its fashinable to make fun of him. The stewie says" he goes out every night with fresh material, its charming." Which is kinda-off how i feel about him. I like him.

Also is does anyone else watch conan everynight like i do? I Am addicted to that show. I think that guy is my Hero. Thats saying a lot right?

What's so funny about Conan? I've never seen anything on his show that even made me smile, much less laugh out loud. FWIW, I do have a decent sense of humor - Seinfeld and the Simpsons until a few years ago were hilarious.

It seems like people have forgotten how funny a true comedy is, so they laugh at lame stuff that's not funny at all - cf Family Guy, Conan, Letterman, etc.

I'm all for Letterman but I've got a quick comment:

What's funny about Jaywalking?? He makes fun of people who don't know history. I can understand being like "wow, thats pretty sad" if someone didn't know how to add or read or something but if a person doesn't know who painted the Sistine Chapel it's not that strange.

If you can't even crack a smile at Family Guy, I think you seriously need to re-evaluate your sense of humor.

He's got you there man. Family Guy is right up there with the best of em.

I'm more partial to old styl Saturday Night live though with Chris Farley as the motivationl speaker. Oh man, I laugh every time.

YES! Now that WAS funny. "My name is Matt Foley, I am thrice divorced, and I live in a van down by the river."
He was one funny man. Ever see "Almost Heroes?"

Not in my estimation. It just seems stupid. There's a fine line between clever and stupid

Unfortunately Family Guy falls on the wrong side of the divide. Many people seem to like it. I'm glad it makes you laugh. I thought it was garbage from the stuff I've seen.

How old are you?..you are older 30+ years old or just some teenager trying to sound "cool" by hating something popular.

Well anyway...so who's better? leno or letterman. (just trying to get this tpic started again.)

hey, i'm a republican and i think family guy is hilarious. i also think American Dad is hilarious.

many of us do lack a sense of humor though...
