NEED HELP ON AE

I have a video clip that i capture in preimere pro. I save it and then i clip on the clip and it works perfectly then i open after effects then i clip on the clip and play it and it plays really slowly and in the info box it says fps:27.8/29.97 (not realtime)? The clip is not playing in normal speed. It is avi. Is it suppose to be like that?

Yeah, in After Effects it can sometimes play slowly. I don't know about the newer versions, but it did in the old ones. You need to find a menu command called 'make movie' and save it, and then try playing it.

If it's a windows dv avi file straight from premiere pro it should play in real-time that's assuming you didn't apply any effects. You need to do a ram preview to see your footage in real-time by pressing 0 on the number keypad.

Hope that helps.

And for the record, "make movie" is what you use to export your final product, not to preview your footage.

You need to render your effects in after effects and then export it as a clip, quicktime, avi, what ever suits you best. Then close AE and open it using a video player (quicktime, media player, dont know any for Macs) and it should run fine. Remember to render it first or else your effects will be crap when you export it.

To render find the 'add to render que' and then button and then to export find the 'export' button. Both are located in the drop down menus at the top of the screen. Hope this helps. BTW i didnt have AE open, just going on memory so yeah. If you have any problems I'll do a step by step list of things to do tomorrow using AE, as it is midnight here and I should be off to bed.... hehehehehe.

Once again, I hope this helps

ok...i click on on the number pad and it said rendering frame 210 of 210 requested and then i click to play it is in normal speed. ( i am just previwing it no effect) then i stop it and then i play it and then i goes to slow again is this suppose to be like this? thxs for you help

Don't use the time controls to play your preview. Just keep on using 0 on the number pad. Use this button to do ram previews, and to start and stop the preview play.
