On Hold - Help a fellow filmmaker!

Hello guys,

I found your wonderful forum today, I didn't know about it but I think I'll be a frequent visitor from now on - I'll apply for two film schools in London later this year.

My name is George. I'm a young filmmaker from Greece. I've studied Audiovisual Arts and now I'm making films. My new short film is what I'm going to talk to you about on this post.

It's titled On Hold. The film observes and follows four people, each of whom is waiting for something very special. It's a film about its characters and their moments, while being in the process of waiting.

I chose to write and direct about this theme because of personal experiences, and because I believe that waiting is an overlooked vital sign - when you wait for something, you automatically admit that there is hope this 'something' will eventually come. And when you hope, you are alive.

It's the first time I'm making a film with a professional cast & crew. The production is non-commercial, but we have high standards - we're working with a production management company that has worked with some of the greatest Greek films of recent years, and even with two Hollywood productions! It's a film made out of love for cinema. I also intend it to be my 'calling card' film for the applications to film schools.

Since the budget is relatively high while the film is not intended to be "sold" in any way, we decided to launch an Indiegogo campaign for it. The problem is that in my country many people can't afford to support such productions, due to the debt crisis, which I'm sure you've heard of. As far as foreign audiences are concerned, I know subtitles are an unfamiliar thing for most of them, and that many English or Spanish-speaking people will probably stop even a trailer if it's in a foreign language.

So our supporters' potential number is very limited. We hope that at least fellow filmmakers around the world can give us a helping hand in this! The film is a really honest one, and if we manage to get near or even reach the goal in our crowdfunding campaign, it's going to be a greatly produced one as well.

I'm asking you to support our production and help a fellow filmmaker make his short film properly! You can watch the trailer, read more about the project and the team, check out the perks we give back for helping, and contribute to our Indiegogo campaign:

Thanks in advance for any kind of support!

-George
