Get ready for the 2003 NYC Midnight Movie Making Madness Filmmaking Competition. There is only a week left until the early entry deadline!

The hippest filmmaking competition in all the land is back in full force with over $34,000 in cash prizes. The competition challenges filmmakers around the world to create two short movies from scratch under extreme time constraints. The 1st round movie must be completed in two weeks from wherever in the world you live. Finalists chosen from the 1st Round receive $1,000 cash and a chance to compete for the grand prize of $10,000 in NYC by writing, shooting and editing a short movie from scratch in 24 hours.

All the teams that make it to the final round in NYC will not only have to chance to profit if their movie is selected for distribution on the 2003 DVD, but will be covered by national media outlets while trying to accomplish the ultimate goal of the competitionâ?¦trying to make the best short movie from scratch in 24 hours, midnight to midnight!

So if youâ??re a filmmaker from Alaska or Australia, England or Israel, it all comes down to one questionâ?¦Are you ready for the madness?

Hey, these things are fun, I was part of a twenty-four hour video race last year. I can't even remember how many cigarettes I smoked that day. The final product didn't come out too great, the director got pretty tyrannical.

I'm in for this year, it's a really good deal actually. Last year like 40 teams entered and 16 got the prize money and made it to the finals.
In my heat I may compete against only 5 people for $1000! Join people!
 
I didn't go last year, but if you look on the website it tells you alot of stuff about the last competition, including what topics where given. The only thing gay about the competition is that for the finals you have to fly all your people to new york, or else there's no chance you will finish and turn in the film in 24 hours.
 
wait, wait...

so they give you 24 hrs, right? So that means as soon as you finish the film you have to get to NY BEFORE the 24 hours is up?!

Yes! It's totally unfair..unless you live very close to New York, flying is too expensive and if I did fly there it'd take out 7 hours from the production time(not to mention $300). Luckily I do have family and friends in Pensylvania, but to just go over there on one day and be like "Hey, uh, I'm Chris, remember me? I think I visited my grandfather 5 years ago and you were with, what's his name, Tom, ya, you guys were playing street hockey, well, can I borrow you, your friends and your house for like 24 hours?"

Yeah, you atleast know people nearbye...my whole familyis stationed here in CA...and I ain't gt 300$!!!

I'd be nice if ya won, cause you'd atleast get your money and some back...but what if ya don't.

Good luck! I don't think I'd be able to do it, I'd go crazy and start killing my crew! Too much pressure.
