I’d definitely lean toward real locations for a documentary, especially in Miami where the city itself adds so much character. You get natural backgrounds, local sounds, and little details that are pretty hard to recreate on a set. That said, sets can be useful for interviews or scenes where you need more control over lighting and audio. Maybe a mix of both would give you the best of both worlds without making the production too complicated. If authenticity is the main goal, though, I’d let the real Miami locations do most of the work.
