The Wrestler

I'd love to see it, but I doubt it's coming to Montana. They're not releasing this wide, but that's ok, I can always just see 'Beverly Hills Chihuahua' since it got a wide release...

Yeah it KILLS me to see "Yes Man" and "Paul Blart" and "Bedtime Stories" flooding the nation in wide-release, with absolutely no trace of things like Slumdog Millionaire, The Wrestler, and Revolutionary Road.

what baffles me is that hollywood invests tens of millions of dollars in movies that are clearly going to suck the big one, and barely (if at all) turn a profit... it makes no sense from a business perspective. meanwhile, you have movies like the wrestler, which if put in wide release, and promoted, could easily earn 5 times their budget, and quite possibly more.

i guess that most people don't go to the movies for a challenging or emotionally draining experience, but rather to escape all the BS they put up with on a regular basis...can you blame them?

Regarding The Wrestler:
The acting was outstanding, but after i walked out of the theatre, i wasn't sure what i thought about the whole film.

i think that it is one of those films that grows on you (for me at least). After sleeping on it, realized that i liked it a lot more than i thought... I had the same experience with Once and Children of Men...

Regardless, it was probably the most emotionally affecting film i have seen this year, which is always a plus.

I'm spoiled in LA...based solely on advertisements, I have vague knowledge of the former fluff and saturation of the latter films...with the exception of Revolutionary Road, which is not too heavily promoted.

Again and again, the distributors underestimate the viewers' taste across the country...but then again, SOMEONE is going to these mindless films. A lot of someones.

Yeah, this was a great film. Watched it again last night and just can't stop thinking about it. It really is a great story and some of the best acting I've seen since, well, There will be blood but still a great overall performance by my buddy Mickey Rourke

no havnt seen that one

slumdog millionaire is another ****in sweet movie, gran torino is pretty fantastic as well and i just saw notorious (haha) not too bad i mean as a movie goes its like whatever but i like biggie so it was mildly entertaining ha check em all out MILK also

its because people that have no taste in film (the mass public) want to see something they never seen before, so they get mini dogs and give them a mexican accent and just post it up everywhere like its the only movie playing. It looks like it didnt cost a whole lot to shoot, they probly made it during the strike and didnt have much things to produce so they grabed the 1st one on the pile and went with it.

on a side note, i heard that the writes guild was talking about going back on strike since they have not received any dues for the online veiwings of the shows/movies they help created, anyone hear anything about if it is going to happen or not because last i heard, it was just rumors.

I just saw it tonite. what an emotionally exhausting experience. i found the whole film to be so full of emptiness. it was also significantly more violent than i was expecting. (violence doesn't bother me at all, as my fav film is The Wild Bunch, but i was surprised at how graphic Wrestler was.) i thought rourke was very, very good. it's a very gritty, very raw, dark film.

i really liked it, fell just short of loving it, and i can't quite put my finger on why.
