whos your favorite director?

I doubt Tarantino produced From Dusk Till Dawn 2 & 3 JUST for money....

...if he wanted more money he'd be spitting more movies out. And just because he hasn't made that money films DOESN'T mean he isn't WRITING any. He has the rights to SEVERAL Elmore Leonard novels, he's been asked to remake a Kung Fu movie, and has written 2 World War II scripts. He was on drugs for a long time after Jackie Brown, people on drugs don't make good movies.

Like I said earlier...I'd prefer to have Tarantino TAKE HIS TIME making movies........this way he has time to think about his scripts. Do you think Once Upon a Time in Mexico wouldn've been better if Rodriguez SPENT MORE TIME ON THE SCRIPT ? YES, most likely.

I'd just prefer that EVERY movie Tarantino makes to be be good, and if he needs many year gaps to do this. Then more power to him

I'd like to reiterate Lynch as my favorite director for the example of Eraserhead

Eraserhead is the single greatest modern film I have seen thus far. I consider it the king of experimental films.

E. Elias Merhige's begotten is also an powerful modern film.

Maya Deren for Meshes of the afternoon

Eisenstien for Alexander Nevsky

Gilliam for Brazil

Jean Cocteau for The Orphic Trilogy (Le Sang de un Poete, Orphee, Le testament de Orphee)

Quentin Tarantino- all four
Robert Rodriguez- El Mariachi Desperado
Kevin Smith- Clerks Dogma
Bryan Singer- The Usual Suspects

I may be one of the few which actually does not have a favorite director.

I don't think anyone of them has the ideals that appeal to me... creativly, that is. Take a little bit from director A, and a little from B-Z, and you have my favorite.

PAUL THOMAS ANDERSON, no doubt about. He has such an amazing visual style, which is composed of brilliant lighting and colors, as well as great movement. He writes deep, emotional and personal movies to which we can all, to some extent, associate with. ALL of his films reinforce that statement, and I think he's a genius.
