Overrated Movies

very funny

I don't think it was an issue of him doing Beetlejuice and PeeWee, I think it was an issue of him knowing what the hell he was doing and having experience working with a large scale budget. Raimi hadn't really shot anything with a budget more than whatever Evil Dead II's was.

Superman doesn't stand up to being viewed now. I marvelled at it as a wee lad, but it's in the same boat as Alien for me. I still like it, just not as much, since watching it semi-recently.

I am sort of curious to see Kelsey Grammer's portrayal of Beast. I too, am annoyed that that Brett Ratner will be screwing up the third X-Men movie. It was starting to get somewhat interesting, and I actually looked forward to X3 originally. I don't too much anymore, but I'll still watch it.

Yeah, I wondered why the Beast wasn't in the first two X-Men films.
Kelsey Grammer seems to fit the part perfectly. It should be really cool.

Rocky Horror Picture show was overrated.

I take that comment, roll it up into a plastic ball, and stick it in my clone machine and make 234 copies of it, and then eat them and then regurgitate them back out onto this forum.

(As in, "I agree")

I have to disagree on Easy Rider, because at the time it blew open the whole studio system and started the filmmaking movement, plus you gotta love Hopper and Fonda just cruising down the road to Born to Be Wild. Just my thoughts.

I'll say that Rocky Horror as a movie is tired and overrated. I saw the play on Broadway a few years back though... whew! what an experience. one of the best show experiences I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing.

Master and Commander... psh. I know people who praised it to no end, I was disappointed.

yeah...I know this an old thread but I din't want to make an entire thread just for Kubrick bashing.

I just saw Full Metal JAcket...I can totally see why 17 year old boys love it, but me...not so much. For starters, seems like this was the first of those Vietnam movies saying what had already throughly been said(note: on actually commenting on Vietnam he was over a decade late.

Also, this man has ...had(he's dead right or did he just stop making movies?)a serious issue with dialogue. I'm how many times did somebody say :"I'm the leader or this troop now not you and I say..." how many times was he gonna play up the same thing. Hell, I only watched half the movie and it got trite fast.

Also, those end monologues...what the fizz? I felt both that and the arbituary singing of the Mickey Mouse club theme song were unwarranted and added nothing to the movie.

I can't say I willing to crown it as that freaking special...so...overrated much.

Full Metal Jacket is my favourite Kubrick film (not that i have seen them all) i advise you to take the time to watch the other half of the film after the boot camp. Also, why do you see why 17yr old boys love it?

oh, because these two kids that I hated in my TV Production class last year...loved this movie and every gangster(ie:new york based, scarface) movie. I could see why they's like it...especially for it's violence and bravado, but I was not impressed.

Not to mention aren't movies supposed to get better...more interesting as they go on, was this going in reverse?

I'm going to have to agree that scarface is really over rated... i bought the dvd hearing how great it was and was watching it waiting for it to "get good" and then it was over and I gave the Dvd away.

Lost in Translation- same thing... i was bored to tears and trying to figure out what all the hype was about

Austin Powers- I hate that god damned movie with a passion... it isnt funny, it isnt cute, it just drives me nuts

Finally. Someone agrees with me.

I think that the "Newer" star wars(episode1,2,3)were overrated. They were indeed good movies but, all the pimply face 400lb teenage comic book fans take the release of sci-fi movies to a extreme.

Everyone goes on and on about how bad they were

Most of the reviews of Episode III were very positive when it came out - so much that despite myself, I thought it might be worthwhile, being the closest to the original trilogy in terms of story...

It was actually the worst one as far as blending into the Star Wars 'feel'. With each progressive film in the new trilogy, Lucas progressively forgot why the originals worked.
