Why original music "IS" important.........

Mcruckker-

"Calling me out"

I' didn't realize I left you hanging. I'll respond to some of your specific points. (BTW... I
gotta make this quick, waves are good right now)

quote:
Why you're calling me kid is beyond me, I'm 25 years old. But I guess I str uck a
nerve considering your longwinded reply. I understand now your viewpoint
on composing professional music considering it's your job.

I'll call people older than me kid. I always have longwinded replie s... just my style. Yes this
is my job.

quote:
Of course we would all like to go get a pro composer to score our soundtracks
but when you're starting out it's not always an option.

But if your just starting out you don't need a "pro" score. I t's a waste of a "pros" time. just
have your friends do it. It'll be more fun and you'll learn. At least it's written for your film.
My point was even bad music is good just as long as it's written for "your" film. Not trying
to say everyone needs an a mazing score. It's over kill for many of the films on this site.
What your friends do will be perfect!

quote:
As a student director/producer there are creative (or lazy) ways to avoid people
like you. There are plenty of local bands and artists t hat would love to let
student directors use their music for free.

Great! But there are also
many composer on this site that say they'll do it for free. Why not use both!

quote:
You sound like a dying grandfather.

Oh.....

quote:
Listen in all seriousness I get your point, it's a very simple one. We all know that
eventually as we grow as artists that we will need individuals like yourself to
give us a higher quality in our work, just don't dism iss people that
aren't quite there yet.

I didn't think I was (but the fact that you thought that, and maybe others is why I probably
don't belong here). Somewhere I wrote "if at all possible". If at all possible have "anyone"
write mus ic speci fically for your film no matter how small.

quote:
But on a student film website not everyone is overly concerned about "the
industry" you and your wife are neckdeep in. It's about storytelling and creativity;
bu t to some that's just not good enough. Why does there always have
to be a next level for people like you, why can't this just be what it is, an outlet for truly
independent student work. And if a kid w ants to rip a song as to
con centrate on storytelling, let it be.

Very good point. That is what I was trying to explain to you by my "name dropping". When
you are "neck deep" that's all you really see or know. But If you aren't' familiar I'm p retty
sure I had a thread called "why the script is so important" too. Maybe i just posted in
thread? But more importantly you're right I think too big.... the reason I believe I may be
giving kids information before they are ready. And thus pushing to o hard for a "NEXT
STEP".

quote:
For alot of people it's easy to get discouraged when they look at posts that tell
them they need "this and that" or their work is sub par. So they think film
making is an unobtainable goal and they quit be fore they even start.
They look at film schools that charge $15,000 a semster and they just give up and the
world loses a storyteller. Well not here, this is a place where if want to
use ma and pa's camcorder with a soun dtrack of ripped songs or no songs at all it will still
be respected.

That is the opposite of what I'd like to see. I care about you guys enough to realize that I
don't want to stifle some y oung kid. Don't want t o overwhelm some kid to the point that they
don't even try......

That's why I need to split. I just don't think I can be helpful on this level, I'd just have to bit
my tongue when I see a question or a statement that in my opinion is false. And i don't think
I am that person.

So that is my reply to your specific questions etc....Ë?

Ok we're cool! This online thing is often so damn hard to understand "the tone" of what people are trying to say. At least over the phone you can hear the inflection in their voice...

But seriousl y, if you wanna call me up just e-mail me, I'll send you my cell number. We're cool!

Honestly don't think I'll stick around though, for the reasons I mentioned above. I'm really pretty damn busy right now as well.....

Anyway....

piss off, yourself

And with a tear swelling in his eye, Mcrukker , knowing all is well with the world, smashes his head repeatedly against his monitor.

CUT TO:
Three ominous Mcrukker Raptor eggs jigling and about to hatch, thus insuring a lifeless yet commercially viable sequel.

FINAL FADE OUT.

This is so f#cking touching... now that sh!t is a ****#ing beautiful story.

"Two enemies who become the best of friends and go on to raise baby raptors... It's a sweet story really. Beautifully written and wonderfully crafted. In a sense, Bambi meets Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer, only not quite as romantic. I loved it...."

Disney is on the phone... What the f#ck should I tell 'em?
