Film Contest $50 PRIZE: The Interrogation DEADLINE March 8th, 2015

Announcing the new Studentfilms.com Film Contest. "The Interrogation"

The rules would be the same as the last contest:

  • The film must in some way be about "an interrogation".
  • There needs to be a clear beginning, middle, and end and a story.
  • The film must be original.
  • It must be 3 minutes or under.
  • The film must use an original score from one of the many great composers on this site. No copyrighted music allowed.
  • No nudity or swearing. Keep it family friendly. Nothing that would be an "R" rating.
  • To prevent gaming of the selection of the winning film, the winning film will be chosen by the sites staff, myself and @Mike_V , and each person who submits a film to the contest. Each filmmaker will choose their favorite film of the contest that is not their own. This is the best way to decide the winner.
Films must be added to the contest's section by midnight Sunday March 8th.

The winning film will receive a $50 Amazon gift certificate.

So who's participating in this one?
I am working on my short film for the Interrogation contest and hopefully will be finished before 8th March. A short film was already made by me but I used copyrighted music so I had to contact one of the composers on this website and we are coordinating with each other for the final short film!

does the music for the film have to be from this website or can it be taken from a royalty free site like Incompetech?

Although I'd love music from the site to be used... any Royalty free music is fine.

I have another question...when is the winner revealed? And how would the winner receive the gift card/certificate? Thanks for organizing this contest, I look forward to more in the future.

The winner will be revealed a couple of days after the contest ends - or whenever the people the submit the films and our staff vote for their favorite films. You'll receive the gift card via e-mail.

Glad you like the contest.

Ok thanks. I will probably use music from this site anyways, I was just curious. One last question...the winner is selected by a voting process? So the film that gets the most votes from both viewers and site administrators wins?

The way it works will be each person who submitted a film gets to vote for their favorite film (besides their own). Myself and my moderator @Mike_V will also vote for a winner. The votes will be handled via private messaging.

The last contest it seemed like people were putting up negative reviews to force one film's score down to try and possibly play with the system. This new way of choosing a winner should help solve that.

Are users allowed to submit films they have made in the past for this contest, or do they have to have been made just for the contest? I'm planning to make an original film, I just noticed some other guys were submitted stuff from years ago.

Ideally they should be original for the contest. It actually was supposed to be in the rules but I just looked at the rules and I didn't word "It must be original" correctly. Oh well.

Some films are also over the time limit so they'll be disqualified unless recut and resubmitted.

The film that I made which comes under the 'Interrogation' heading was way longer than the required time limit for this contest. I did the editing again, and made it fit under three minutes. Does that work? Also, the music for the short film was made by the composers on this website.

I'm still planning on submitting, it just might be last minute. I have to reshoot some stuff at my second locations which is kinda far away after accidentally erasing the footage.

Good luck! I'm stopping the ability to add films to the contest section at midnight PST or 3am EST.

Thanks to everyone for submitting the films! I've now closed the ability to add films.. (a little late - I forgot to do it last night).

Now we need to vote on the winners... I'll start watching the films tonight. Hopefully by this coming weekend we'll be able to announce the winner!

Thanks to everyone to submitting the films!
